Another tough year in 2009 for CCHS lacrosse?

Lacrosse coach Donovan O'Brien would like to promise that Culpeper will fare much better in 2009 than it did it 2008.

Eastern View's opening may prevent such a guarantee from happening, though.

The Blue Devils' season came to an unceremonious end on May 14. CCHS lost a 15-2 decision at Fauquier in the Cedar Run District quarterfinals, completing a 1-13 season. Culpeper loses just three seniors from this year's team — but EVHS may swipe a healthy section of the returning roster.

"I think the majority of the players are going to go to Eastern View," O'Brien said. "They are going to get the bulk of what's left here."

Long story short, that means 2009 could be another painful season for CCHS lacrosse.

 - Read more about the CCHS lacrosse outlook for next season in the Thursday, May 22 print edition of The Culpeper Times.
