Devils' season concludes with a whimper

A long, trying year for the Culpeper boys lacrosse team concluded on Wednesday night, when the Blue Devils fell 15-2 at Fauquier in the Cedar Run District quarterfinals.

CCHS finished the year 1-13 overall - just a victory over Liberty on Senior Night preventing the Devils from a winless campaign.

Fauquier raced out to an 8-0 halftime lead on Culpeper. The visiting Devils had no answers for Fauquier, which finished in a three-way tie for the Cedar Run regular season crown, on either side of the field.

It was 10-0 before Stevie Strother got Culpeper on the board late in the third quarter. Cody Armstrong later added a second Devil tally.

FHS advanced to the Cedar Run semis, where the Falcons dropped a 6-5 decision to Osbourn Park on Thursday night.
