Teen treated after suicide threats

A Chesterfield teen, staying on Mountain Run Lake Road in Culpeper, was taken into custody by Culpeper County Sheriff's Office deputies after threatening suicide.

Sgt. Jim Fox reported that at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, June 30, the Sheriff’s Office received a call from an 18 year-old male, making threats of suicide and threats against law enforcement over the phone to a family member in Chesterfield.

The Culpeper Sheriff’s Negotiations Team as well as the Sheriff’s Office and Town Police Joint SWAT Team were mobilized to assist with this incident.

Contact was established by the Negotiations Team with the suicidal teen in the Mountain Run Lake Road residence and at 8:24 a.m., the subject surrendered to deputies without incident.

Fox said the teen was taken to Culpeper Regional Hospital for evaluation. The incident is still under investigation, no criminal charges have been filled at this time.
