Culpeper man arrested following malicious wounding incident

A Culpeper man was charged with felony malicious wounding following an incident Sunday night in Culpeper.

On October 22, 2017 at approximately 1905, the Culpeper Police Department responded to the 400-block of Washington Street for a reported assault with injuries. Upon arrival at this location, Officers found a 28-year old male victim, who was unconscious and suffering from a head injury. Following the attack, the suspect involved in this incident fled the scene.

The victim was transported ambulance to Novant-UVA Culpeper Medical Center and later transported to the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville with life threatening injuries. The Culpeper Police Department Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene. The crime scene was processed and evidence was gathered. During the night, Detectives continued to follow up on information related to this incident and developed a suspect.

The Culpeper Police Department charged Enrique Perez, 33, of Culpeper with felony malicious wounding. Perez is being held without bond at the Culpeper County Jail on this charge.
