Keene highly qualified for school board

As an educator and high school football coach of 28 years, I have had the opportunity to work with many outstanding professionals. Marshall Keene is one of those individuals. He is a man with many outstanding qualities. He has always been dependable and extremely hard working. He has outstanding managerial skills and is highly organized. I have observed him in many roles. As a school resource officer, a coach, a mentor to younger deputies and a father. He has proven to be exemplary. Students, players and staff have greatly benefited from his contributions. His contributions to the community are numerous and are vital in keeping a positive community/law enforcement relationship.

Marshall was an SRO at Massaponax HS in 2003 and was on the football coaching staff until he relocated to Culpeper. His presence as a law enforcement officer at Massaponax HS helped provide a safe environment for the students and faculty, which is critical for a good learning environment. The students did not fear him, but respected his position. He was easy to approach by students and staff. He took the time to counsel students and was respected for his fairness.

Our SAAD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) Club was organized and started by then First Sergeant Keene (Spotsylvania SO). He organized and directed the “mock car crash” program which heightened the student’s awareness of the danger of drinking and driving. This was an excellent program that reached many of our students. It is obvious he is a great advocate for students and a man who really cares about their welfare.

I have seen him mentor and guide new deputies during his time with the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Department. Three former football players of mine at Massaponax H.S. have joined the Sheriff’s Office and Marshall has helped them on their path to a solid law enforcement career.

Marshall is very conscientious and professional in all of his many endeavors. Considering all of his many responsibilities and the outstanding job he has done, he has never let it interfere with being a good husband and father.

I appreciate all that Marshall has done for our community, our schools and the Massaponax Football Program. I confidently endorse Marshall Keene for Culpeper School Board. I know that he will be a great asset to the School Board and the community.
