SCHOOL NEWS IN BRIEF: Elementary school students winners in math tournament

 

The 2017 Culpeper County Schools Math 24 Tournament was held at the Eastern View High School gymnasium on March 23, 2017. The gymnasium was full of excitement and tension as nearly 90 students in grades three through six participated in the competition.

Third grade winners were Bryan Balderrama in 1st place (Sycamore Park); Riley Kitts in 2nd place (Pearl Sample); Cailin Rendell in 3rd place (A. G. Richardson); and Shelby Hurlock in 4th place (Pearl Sample).

Fourth grade winners were Baylor Capellini in 1st place (Yowell); Charlie Holland in 2nd place (Sycamore Park); Peter Nenyuk in 3rd place (Pearl Sample); and Nathan Connors in 4th place (A. G. Richardson).

Fifth grade winners were Sophia Miglino in 1st place (A. G. Richardson); Shalaya Slaughter in 2nd place (A. G. Richardson); Caleb Smith in 3rd place (Emerald Hill); and Brett Clatterbaugh in 4th place (Pearl Sample).

Sixth grade winners, all representing Floyd T. Binns Middle School, were Sydney Connors in 1st place; Kyleigh Hammond in 2nd place; Victoria Weaver in 3rd place; and Xavier Carr in 4th place.

Congratulations to these Mathletes and to all of the participants in the competition! The 24 Game® is a fun way to help students sharpen math skills such as computation, number sense, patterns, and critical thinking.
