Dr. Zia Roshandel has a history in the Culpeper community of serving his patients with passion and heart. His credentials as a seasoned heart specialist have long been established. He’s been named one of America’s top cardiologists several years running. One of the hallmarks of his practice is his ability to explain in simple and clear terms what causes your body’s most vital organ to be stressed.

His enthusiasm is focused and assertive as he animately discusses the risk factors that will burn out and weaken your engine. As he says, “In some cases a person is at risk for heart problems because of genetics…not much you can change there but risk factors that are modifiable…those are the ones that can be attacked like high blood pressure, diabetes and topping the list obesity.

For the past four years, Dr. Roshandel has witnessed firsthand the success of Ideal Protein, a weight loss program that is medically supervised, safe, offers quick results, and also includes a maintenance segment that encourages and supports a healthy lifestyle once your desired weight loss goal has been achieved.

“We’ve been doing this for several years targeted to a small group,” says Roshandel, “but when I see other programs being promoted, my concern is for the patient and that they are able to make an educated decision when seeking help so we’re letting the community know that we offer this program.”

The Ideal Protein plan which is a low carbohydrate, low fat diet must be administered by an approved health care professional.

There are diets and there are diets. They are not all created equal.

“Being thin is not necessarily being healthy,” says Roshandel. “There are essential amino acids in the protein chain that you need in order for your body to function at an optimum level…you don’t want those weakened.”

For Roshandel, who is very protective of the trust and credibility that he has established with his patients, his concern are the potential adverse effects long term of some programs that promote pills and injections as supplements to weight loss. This plan does not do that.

In this plan the body is encouraged to turn to its fat to burn energy sparing muscle tone.

For Roshandel, the results of the Ideal Protein program have been predictable, measurable and reproducible. His face lite up as he described the life altering difference it made for one man who came to him overweight, over medicated and confined to a wheelchair. He is now significantly thinner, taking less meds and walking on his own.

With weight loss that is achieved and maintained come other benefits that Roshandel emphasizes like less knee and back pain, improved breathing for those suffering from sleep apnea, reduced risk of stroke, hypertension and a better and more positive outlook on life.

His office staff has lost a total of 300 pounds on the plan. Women can expect to loss between 8-10 pounds a month while men can lose as much as 20 pounds.

“I have a reputation,” says Roshandel, “when I first became aware of the program several years ago, I did a lot of research and talking with other doctors. It’s a program that works and doesn’t harm you.”

“My motivation isn’t about making money off of people…my motivation is to make them healthier and happier.”

“Healthy weight loss is not a 12-week race…rather it’s a life journey.”
