Culpeper ’92 Lions Club held its tenth annual Santa Breakfast on Dec.5. We wish to thank all who helped to make this a joyful and successful event.
Thank you to our local papers, the Star Exponent and The Culpeper Times, Beth Castro of Culpeperfamily.com, Susan Humphreys of CCPS Community Corner newsletter, and Culpeper Media Network for helping us to get the word out.
Thank you to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church for providing us the lovely space and to Cherrie Fredericks and Lailani Scott for their gracious help in getting us set up.
Thank you to Merchant’s Grocery, Robby and Ryan Allen and their families, and the Mid Day Lions Club for their generous contributions. Thank you also to the Sunday night Mid Day Lions bingo patrons who for many weeks contributed to our collection cans, and to all of those who attended our breakfast and added to our funds by purchasing gifts from the Santa Shop, buying breakfast, or simply donating.
A very special thank you to Ray and Helen Peter who were our beautiful and fun visitors from the North Pole. The children loved you and the parents have pictures to treasure of their children with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Thank you to Greg Harpine and his very talented students of the White Dove Studio for their wonderful music (Aidan Durica, Bryce Dutter, Alana Durica, Justin Bellusci, Cameron Easter, Michaela Easter, Joanna Manne, Jason Manne, Andrew Canavan, Megan Canavan, Sonya Laws, Ken Fowler, Shannon Fowler, Lia Fowler).
We thank the very capable and wonderfully helpful Leos Keely Martin, Leah Wical, Cara Fisher, Kendal Barlow, Darel Morales, and Tiana Orange, and CCHS faculty sponsor BJ DeJarnette, and Mid Day Lion Leo sponsors Doug Settle and Chris Settle. We couldn’t have done it without these extraordinary young people and willing, energetic helpers.
Also we thank Kim Jebson and Hannah Adams for face painting, Sarah Adams, Will Adams, Rusty Montgomery, David Durr, and Tom Henneman for their gracious help with so many tasks, Angie Smith and Mr. Smythers at Merchant’s for their coordination of the food, and our fellow Lions Bud Glass, Larry Brooks, Sam and Pat Aiken who assisted with the SPOT vision screenings of 27 children.
And finally, we thank those in the community for coming and being a part of our fun family event. All of the approximately $1,500 in proceeds will go to the Culpeper Food Closet. If, inadvertently, we have failed to mention anyone who assisted before, during or after, we apologize and thank you also for helping to make our event a success.
