Marshalls announced Monday, Sept. 21, that its grand opening will be Oct. 1.
The discount clothing retailer is set to open in the empty storefront on Broadview Avenue in Warrenton that was once home to Borders bookstore. The grand opening will feature giveaways, food tastings, family activities, a DJ and more. The event will start at 9 a.m. and go on until 5 p.m.
Marshalls is owned by TJX Companies, headquartered in Framingham, Mass. The company is an off-price seller of apparel and home goods.
TJX Companies also owns T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods. There are a dozen Marshalls stores in Northern Virginia, the closest being Manassas and Fredericksburg.
In the companyâ??s fourth quarter 2014 earnings call, officials said the company would open 181 new stores in 2015. Between Marshalls and T.J. Maxx, the company operates 2,094 locations in the U.S. The company is targeting both urban and rural locations.
The average store size of a Marshalls is 31,000 sq. ft.
