One key to good government is open and effective communication. This is particularly important for state and local elected officials as our budgets often work hand in hand. Approximately 50 percent of general fund dollars spent at the state level flow to local governments for schools, public safety, and other core functions of government. Local governments make decisions about spending and taxation after accounting for state and federal dollars in their budget.
I have valued my interaction as a member of the House of Delegates with Boards of Supervisors and Town Councils across the district. We are fortunate to have a number of dedicated, conservative individuals serving at the local level in our area. One of these leaders is Steve Nixon, who is running for re-election to the Culpeper Board of Supervisors in the West Fairfax District.
Working with Steve on both policy and politics, I have found him to be thoughtful with regard to the interests of his constituents and supportive of elected Republicans at the local, state, and national level. I encourage residents of the West Fairfax District to re-elect Steve Nixon on November 3.
