On August 25, 2015, Deputies from Culpeper County Sheriffâ??s Office responded to a report of a grand larceny at Ronâ??s Used Tires on Braggs Corner Road.
An individual entered the business to inquire about his vehicle being towed from an August 24 DUI arrest in Fauquier County. After being told by the staff that they did not tow his vehicle, he waited until the employees were not watching and made off with the cash box containing an undisclosed amount of currency.
Detectives were able to obtain video from the business, and the individual was quickly identified as Derek B. Murray, 26, of Castleton. A lookout was sent to surrounding jurisdictions, and a few hours later Murray was seen at the Martinâ??s Grocery Store by a Sheriffâ??s Deputy. Murray was taken into custody without incident.
Murray was charged with grand larceny and destruction of property and is being held at Culpeper County Jail without bond.
