Farm-To-Table Dinner taking reservations

The Culpeper Downtown Farmers Market celebrates the bounty of summer with the 2nd Annual Farm-To-Table Dinner highlighting quality fresh and local products on Sunday, Aug. 9, at 5 p.m. at the Culpeper Center. Proceeds from this event will benefit the SNAP program, a healthy local food initiative. Terry Osborn, Culpeper Farm-To-Table Chairman, is excited about this opportunity to share and showcase local food, â??Our local vendors look forward to sharing the quality local products we provide in this uniquely local experience.â?

Culpeper Center/Flavor on Main Executive Chef Garth Hansen brings his culinary excellence to an amazing farm-to-table experience in support of the local farm community. Share great food and conversation with market vendors who will be acting as table hosts. The evening includes live music and a custom menu comprised of seasonal local ingredients. A sampling of appetizers will be followed by three delightful courses and local wine from Old House Vineyards. The all-inclusive cost is $125 per person. Worried about the weather? The forecast inside the Culpeper Center, located at 137 South Main Street, is climate controlled with no chance of rain.

Proceeds from this yearâ??s dinner will enable SNAP participants to double their money when they purchase tokens at the Culpeper Downtown Farmers Market, up to 10 bonus tokens per visit. Since 2012, the Culpeper Department of Human Services, Culpeper Downtown Farmers Market, and Culpeper Renaissance, Inc. have partnered to provide the ability to use SNAP tokens at the Culpeper Downtown Farmers Market. SNAP offers nutrition assistance to millions of eligible, low-income individuals and families and provides economic benefits to communities. SNAP is the largest program in the domestic hunger safety net.
Osborn is delighted by this opportunity to further the local food movement,

â??The Farmers Market vendors have been working with CRI and DHS to provide access to fresh food through the SNAP program for many years. The Farm-To-Table dinner allows us to expand that program while connecting personally with the customers we serve.â?

With more than 30 vendors, the Culpeper Downtown Farmers Market is the longest running and most successful market in the Culpeper area. The market is open every Saturday, through Nov. 21 from 7:30 a.m. until noon. Nestled at the end of Davis Street, the market offers a one-stop shop for all things local. â??The weekly farmers market enhances community life in downtown Culpeper. CRI is proud to partner with this same group of vendors on the Farm-To-Table dinner,â? says CRI President Steve Miller.

Only a limited number of advance reservations will be available for purchase through Aug. 3, on-line at or at the CRI office located at 127 West Davis Street. For further event information visit or call (540) 825-4416.
