Community Briefs: UVA Culpeper Hospital adds more sleeping recliners

UVA Culpeper Hospital recently acquired eight new sleeping recliners to help patientsâ?? family members sleep well next to loved ones.

The Culpeper Hospital Auxiliary donated the La-Z-Boy® Harmony Series Room Saver Recliners, which cost $1,500 each. Patientsâ?? family members requested more comfortable sleeping accommodations when staying with their loved ones and the Auxiliary raised money to meet that need.

Each recliner is fitted with gel pads and high resiliency foam to help tired individuals sink comfortably into a good nightâ??s rest. Lumbar support and the strength to hold 350 pounds safely guarantees secure positioning for extended periods of time. The recliners lie almost completely flat and are simple to adjust or return to an upright position.

Staff can easily move the eight medical grade recliners around to different departments, as needed. One recliner will be permanently located in the Intensive Care Unit, but the other seven will be used in both the Medical Surgical Unit and the Step Down Unit. These sleeping recliners, along with those already available for maternity patients in the Family Birth Center, bring the hospital total to 18 recliners or sleeper chairs.
