New administrator hired for Culpeper County

The Culpeper County Board of Supervisors announced Wednesday that they unanimously chose Ernie Hoch as Culpeperâ??s next County Administrator. This culminates a several month, nationwide search yielding more than 50 applicants.

Ernie has served the region as the Madison County Administrator for the past three years and has quickly become a strong leader in regional local government. Ernieâ??s career began more than 30 years ago in the private sector, managing large commercial properties and environmental services. For the past nine years Ernie has worked in the public sector with a personal goal and commitment to operate government efficiently and effectively while providing the highest level of citizen services.

In addition to his business and public sector experience, Ernie has a long list of qualifications and experience including: Member of the Virginia Association of Counties Finance Committee,
licensed instrument pilot, volunteer rescue diver, volunteer fireman, real estate agent / property manager, past Chamber of Commerce President, extensive public works experience, including water and wastewater systems, multiple FEMA, emergency management certifications, Commissioner for the Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission based in Culpeper, volunteer with many civic and charitable organizations including being a volunteer and past Director for Angel Flight.

Ernie will begin his employment with Culpeper County on May 1 and earn an annual salary of $135,000. Ernie is married to his childhood sweetheart Charlotte, they have three children, two grandchildren and they are planning on moving to Culpeper in the near future.
