Harlem Superstars Comedy Basketball Team dazzle in Culpeper

The gym was packed. The crowd was psyched. The players were poised to energize and delight. Any winter doldrums quickly disappeared Saturday evening at Eastern View High School when the EVHS Athletic Boosters hosted the Harlem Superstar Comedy Basketball Team. Held as a fundraiser, proceeds from ticket sales will help raise money for equipment for the schoolâ??s athletic program. The Eastern View Dream Team took on the superstars in what proved to be lots of good fun, rousing enthusiasm and competitive spirit. For the fans, it was awesome.

Check out Kathryn Carswell taking a spin with Donnie â??Razzmatazzâ? Seale during some of the eveningâ??s shenanigans. Katie Hogan (13) and Chelsea Bradshaw tried a tag team approach to blocking a shot by Harlem Superstar Roosevelt Lee. During the final quarter of the game Marshall Keene, a Culpeper County Sheriffâ??s deputy and Eastern View school resource officer, got in a two pointer. Winner of the â??Youâ??ve Been Trickedâ? contest, young Walker Lutz takes a pass from Kevin â??Showboatâ? Jackson. As well as showing off their athleticism, ball handling skills and keen sense of humor, team members fully engaged the crowd happily signing autographs. Lots of high jinks, smiles and, for sure, school spirit.
