Gearing up for Give Local Piedmont

This past May Northern Piedmont Community Foundation Executive Director Cole Johnson was literally jumping for joy outside the State Theatre.

The debut of this area’s first online giving fundraiser to help nonprofits went better than she and her supporters had envisioned.

â??I am speechless, we had 3,369 donations totaling more than $675,000 for 107 nonprofits that serve Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison and Rappahannock Counties,â? exclaimed a joyous Johnson at the end of the 24-hour online giving event.

Monies poured in throughout the day mixed with special contests and bonus matches. More than 100 nonprofits registered in a four county area.

On the day of the event, computers were manned at the State Theatre and a large screen screen visually kept track of the totals. The Give Local Piedmont event coincided with a national day of giving celebrating 100 years of community foundation work throughout the nation.

That was May 2014.

With a new year starting in a few months, The Northern Piedmont Community Foundation (NPCF) is once again sponsoring Give Local Piedmont, an online Giving Day on Tuesday, May 5, 2015.

â??In 2015, we would like to top our success,â? says Johnson adding, â??in order to do that we are partnering with the Center for Nonprofit Excellence to provide the best training to get your organization ready for Tuesday, May 5, 2015.â?
