Town plans to replace storm sewer, improve drainage

The Town of Culpeper will begin replacing a deteriorated 12 inch storm sewer along South Blue Ridge Avenue on Monday, Sept. 8. The installation of a new 15 inch HDPE (High Density Polyethylene Pipe) storm sewer along with paved shoulders will improve drainage within the area.

North bound traffic on Blue Ridge Ave will continue as normal, while South bound traffic will be detoured onto S. West Street at the intersection of W. Spring Street and S. Blue Ridge Avenue. Motorists and local residents are urged to use designated detours and should expect delays during this construction.

The Public Works department expects the project to be completed by the end of September, weather permitting. â??Motorists are urged to pay attention to changing conditions within the work zone during this time,â? said Assistant Director of Public Works Gary Wise.
