EVHS graduation information

An exciting day for the senior Cyclones is quickly advancing when Eastern View High School (EVHS) holds graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2014 at 7 p.m. Friday, June 6. Graduation will be held in Cyclone Stadium. Students will report to the auditorium by 5 p.m.

About 300 seniors are expected to don cap and gown to receive their diplomas. Graduation student speakers will be Josh Walker, Nicole Murphy, Josh Brown, and Daniel Grotz. Principal E. G. Bradshaw said, “The Class of 2014 has distinguished themselves through leadership, academic success, and community spirit.  As seniors, this group has been instrumental in maintaining high academic expectations, giving back to the community, and being model student citizens.  

“As seniors, they have been exceptional role models for our underclassmen and established leadership expectations for future classes. As we work to build an environment that embraces respect, accountability, and continuous improvement, the Class of 2014 has embodied our future vision.  We look forward to the contributions from the Class of 2014 within our community.”

A crowd of about 2,000 family members and friends is expected at the graduation For easy access, shuttle buses will be available to transport those attending the ceremony from the Parks and Recreation lots adjoining EVHS stadium.

The gates will open at 5:30 p.m. Bleacher and Grandstand seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis and no tickets are necessary. Field seating is available with tickets only.

June 1 â?? Baccalaureate at 3 p.m. at Culpeper Christian Community Center, 118 N. East Street

June 4 â?? Awards and Scholarship Convocation at 6:30 p.m. in the EVHS auditorium. Recipients will be notified by mail. Caps and gowns should be worn.

June 4 â?? Mandatory graduation practice at 8 a.m. Students are to meet in the auditorium.

June 4 â?? Senior Picnic at 10:30 a.m. in Cyclone Stadium.

June 5 â?? Mandatory graduation practice at 8 a.m. Students are to meet in the auditorium.

CCHS graduation information

Blue Devil Pride will again be evident as Culpeper County High School (CPHS) holds graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2014 at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 7. Graduation is scheduled to be held on Broman Field (the CCHS football field). The rain location will be the Culpeper Middle School gymnasium.

About 250 seniors are expected to don cap and gown to receive their diplomas. Graduation student speakers will be Caroline Shrewsbury, Emily Dietz, Bailey Hayes, and Brittany Carter. CCHS principal Jeff Dietz reflected, “As I consider the impact that the Class of 2014 has had, I continue to come back to their service to our community.  Whether it was organizing a dinner and benefit for a hospitalized student, collecting coats and blankets for the needy, raising money for Breast Cancer and the March of Dimes  through a dodge ball tournament or staff/student basketball, our students have shown great empathy and care for others.”

To witness the celebration, a crowd of about 2,000 family members and friends is expected. Parking at the high school is extremely limited and will be restricted to state issued handicap tags, faculty, one spot per graduate, and press.

Shuttle buses will begin operating at 7 a.m. Satellite parking will be available at the following locations: Dominion Skating Center, Floyd T. Binns Middle School, and Sycamore Park Elementary School. Shuttle drop off will be in front of the Annex.

The gates will open at 7:30 a.m. Bleacher seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Following the CCHS commencement exercises, a return shuttle will be available for up to two hours. Riders may catch shuttles returning to satellite parking in front of the middle school gym.
