RT. 649 BRIDGE IN ALBEMARLE CLOSED THURSDAY FOR REPAIRS

Motorists should use alternate routes while emergency work is done on bridge deck

CULPEPER — The Route 649 (Proffit Road) bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks in Albemarle County will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday so the railroad can make emergency repairs to the bridge deck.

Motorists who normally use Route 649 as a route between Route 29 (Seminole Trail) and Route 20 (Stony Point Road) should plan to use alternate routes during the closure. Access will be maintained to private entrances on both sides of the bridge while the repairs are being done.

Drivers can check VDOT’s traffic information web site, www.511Virginia.org, for information on the closure as well as real-time road and weather conditions, live traffic camera images for many major highways, including Interstate 64, I-66 and Routes 29 and 250 in Central Virginia.
