The Islamic Center of Culpeper would like to formally express its concern and displeasure at the Culpeper County Sheriff Office (CCSO) decision to host a “counterterrorism” program conducted by former FBI agent Mr. John Guandolo from February 25-27, 2014 at Germanna Community College.
Mr. Guandolo is a conspiracy theorist. His views on Islam are controversial, prejudiced and misleading. Training of our law-enforcement officers by Mr. Guandolo will encourage racial-profiling and discrimination against Muslims in our community. We strongly oppose the invitation extended to Mr. Guandolo and believe it is highly inappropriate that our tax-payer dollars are being used for the purposes of spreading hate and misinformation about Islam.
The Islamic Center of Culpeper urges the CCSO to withdraw the invitation extended to Mr. Guandolo. Our board members would be happy to meet with law-enforcement officials at any location in order to educate them on Islam with information that is a true representation of our faith.
