Flu shots available in Rappahannock

(Culpeper, Va.)— Getting a flu vaccine is the single best way to protect against the flu. Everyone over the age of six months should be vaccinated as the flu season approaches. This year’s seasonal flu vaccine will protect you against the three most expected flu strains. It could keep you from losing valuable time from work, school, and could even save your life.

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Health District will be offering a free flu vaccinations at Rappahannock Elementary School on Monday November 4, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Two hundred and fifty doses of free vaccine will be available for anyone ages three or older.

Each year, about 200,000 people are hospitalized and 36,000 people die from the flu nationwide, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Flu season generally runs November through March.
