Reva man wanted for rape and abduction of Culpeper woman

The Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in tracking down a man wanted for the brutal rape, abduction and beating of a 21 year old Culpeper woman.

On May 24, 2013, the Culpeper Sheriff’s Office responded to the Culpeper Regional Hospital where detectives found a woman reporting she was raped and beaten by 27-year-old Shannon A. Shanks of Reva, Virginia. The woman suffered facial injuries and required medical treatment.

Within hours, Sheriff’s Detectives obtained arrest warrants and began the manhunt for Shanks. Sheriff Jenkins is asking for the community’s assistance with any information that could help in apprehending Shanks.

“Anyone who commits such a heinous crime needs to be brought to justice swiftly. For the safety of the public, anyone with any information that could help detectives locate and take this criminal into custody is urged to call the Sheriff’s Office or CrimeSolvers,” said Culpeper Sheriff Scott Jenkins.

Shanks is charged with Rape, Abduction, Strangulation and Malicious Wounding, all felony offenses. If convicted, Shanks could face life in prison.
